Georgine Maxine Kisely Anderson, 79, Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Winner, SD, began her sentimental journey with the Lord on March 14, 2010, surrounded by her family at Sanford USD Medical Center.
Georgie was born on October 10, 1930, in Lake Andes, SD, to Anton and Josephine (Varilek) Kisely on the family farm North of Lake Andes. She attended Midway Country School in Goose Lake Township through the eighth grade and high school in Lake Andes. She married Ray “Andy” Anderson on September 19, 1946, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. They spent most of their married life in Parkston and Winner. While raising four children, she supported her husband in establishing their jewelry business, Andy’s Jewelry. Georgie spent many hours assisting customers and supporting the business community of Winner.
Georgie, lovingly known as “General Georgie” by her family, enjoyed hosting her family and friends with food and fellowship. She loved cooking her Bohemian heritage foods, including dumplings and kolaches, and donating her famous popcorn balls which were the hot item at her church bazaars. She was known to share her colorful popcorn balls with friends and relatives on every holiday. Her social activities included bowling, golfing, and any card game she could work her way into. She entertained herself by making side bets on sporting events with her family and friends. She also loved visiting with fellow Czech’s in her native tongue.
Happy to have shared her life are her husband of 63 years, Ray “Andy” Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD, her four children Joan (Steve) Davis of Winner, SD; David (Jean) Anderson of Casper, WY; Linda (Dave) Klein of Pierre, SD; and Derry (Sheila) Anderson of Sioux Falls, SD. Her eight grandchildren: Steven (Cora) Davis, Cordell (Melissa) Davis, Delvet (Mitch) (Davis) Anderson, Kimberly Klein, Nicole Klein, Kara (Troy) (Klein) Mohn, Samantha (Bill) (Anderson) Capshaw, and David Anderson, Jr.; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Carmilla Juhnke of Sioux Falls, SD, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers, Emil and Jerry Kisely; three sisters, Caroline Toman, Toni Dvorak, and Sylvia Kisely.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 20, at Christ Lutheran Church in Winner, SD. Interment will be at 4:30 pm on Saturday at Lake View Cemetery in Lake Andes, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services.
